For weeks now, every day I’ve pulled up my site, opened up a new blog post and stared at the screen blank. Day in, day out.
For a while now, I’ve been struggling to write. I don’t think I’ve ever really had writer’s block, or at least not this bad or for this long.
I tried doing everything I possibly could – reading novels, reading writing books, writing, but to no avail.
So I figured since I can’t seem to write about anything, I’ll write about the one thing that I can put into words – my block.
Studying journalism is a dream come true, but when you write so much for school, you sometimes don’t find the time or energy to write for yourself. So many times, I’ve had great ideas for blog posts but I could never pen them down because my brain was far too exhausted from school. Which is why it sucks all the more when I finally make the time, find the energy and want to write, but I can’t.
I think the worst part is not knowing why — not understanding why you can’t write, where it’s coming from or how you can change it.
Writer’s block is something all writers face, and I guess each one learns how to conquer it in their own way. I’m still on my journey of figuring it out, but I’d appreciate any helping hands along the way. If you’ve got any tips or personal experiences on how you overcame writer’s block, shoot away – I’ll take all the advice I can get!
